Every year, in the UK, a vehicle has to be licenced (road fund) and if over 2 years 11 months and 30 days old it will need an MoT certificate. Together with insurance it all adds up!
In order that my bike stands a reasonable chance of securing an MoT certificate I renewed a dodgy set of rear wheel bearings on 8th February this year.
Yesterday I renewed this:-
WHAT is it and is it worn???? ?????
The test is booked for Saturday morning, wish me luck.
Does the Queen allow KNOBBY tires on a "Street" bike for issue of a certificate???. Looks to me that if you are getting a "street" type certificate, they would want ya on Street tyres, even though the back one on yours is what I would consider ON/OFF type tread.
BTW- I don't think we would allow this type of front tire (tyre) on Texas PAVED ROADS, but I will have to check that out for sure, as my TTR only sees the dirt/mud/rocks/occasional air.
We have to get a "registration", same as your "certificate" (40-50 USD, depending on motor size I think) every year. We are also required to get a "inspection" (15 USD) too, consisting of making sure you have insurance and brakes, mostly. Inspection is a bit of a joke and I do it only every 10 years for my Harley & Kawasaki, because they change color every decade and I like to think I live on the edge. I really live on a couch reading motorcycle posts by dudes I envy, Like YOU! What is that OLD black bike under the tarp? I want her in my hands!
She passed with flying colours (blue mainly) and no advisory notices this year.
A clean bill of health and ready for another 12 months riding.
This is a shot of the River Exe, not far frm the MoT garage.
Greg, The OLD black bike under the tarp is my BSA.
I could say I've had her from new but it'd be stretching things a bit too far.
It's a 1926, 350cc, overhead valve, BSA model L26, flat tanker.
Like all my bikes, she's regularly used. At the beginning of April we did a 200 miles VMCC run in the Cotswolds together, over 3 days without any mishap.
Jarrah, the "mess" in your picture I guess is your TTR during the dismantling, repairing, repainting and reassembling. It looks as if it's on your back verandah with temporary sheeting in the background to stave off the draughts.
Can't stop - I've got some riding to do after lunch.
The picture was taken looking due North towards Topsham - not far from the bus station and railway terminus, SX 9980 81107, 0.312 miles from CCR Services.
He did say that it was a pity more bikes weren't presented for MoT in a similar condition.
Martyn, Thanks for clarifying the Black bike. I was stumped as to what that was. Knew it was old by the front brake and what I could see of the motor. WOW-That is a PRIMO example of a 89 year old bike. I see that you added a rear view mirror but other than that it looks like it did in '26. Thanks for the pic, Me and the grandson have been droolin' over her all morning!
...I guess my post from last night seems to have been DELETED!? Bryan -Don't know what I did wrong? -I did say "Harley" and "Kawasaki", but other than that I thought I kept it pretty clean.
Thanks Jarrah, I see it now, but I swear it was not up this a.m. -Not a big deal really, just thought I may have written something terrible and not realized it. greg
