I am to afraid to drive a high way for more then a few min LOL. So i was wondering about putting a trailer hitch on my 2000 pontiac sunfire and then getting a dirt bike trailer hitch setup. Its just like a mountin bike hock up but for a dirt bike were it just go's on the back of your vehicle. I have been looking this up and i cant find anything on it, all things i see are on trucks, vans, hatch backs, or jeeps no normal cars. They say the sunfire trailer hitch can do this (200 Pound Tongue Weight... not to sure that that mans... and has 2000 Pound Towing weight. The dirt bike carrier rack can hold 400lb so thats not a problem cuz i think the TTR250 is 250lb. So the question is .... anyone know if that will work? Or do i just have to use a normal trailer?
The carriers available in the UK are ones that hard mount to your bar with bolts. In other words the round hitch is removed and the rack bolts on and they are most commonly used for motorhomes. I will post some more details for you a bit later along with a link that will allow you to understand the major factors, but I doubt whether you will have the capacity to carry a TTR On a normal car. The numbers you quote sound high, but its all to do with the leverage and distance of the load from your rear axle. On my Toyota Hilux Invincible (dumb name) it is marginal and the capacities are way higher than you quote.
Yah I was kinda thinking it was a long shot, I do have a flat bed trailer I can use and I know my car would handle it. I just kinda wanted a easy way to do it. I deff know that my car can tow it lol. But I still got time to research. Thanks for the help.
Think my last reply got lost somehow, unless there is some kind of moderator thing that has to check links? The company I got my rack from was this one
