I had a request from a guy who is short in the leg (his description!) to try a lowered TTR.
I fitted a lowering link, wound the rear shock spring off just a tad, reversed the handlebar clamps to allow the front forks to be dropped up through by 21.3mm, and fitted a sculpted lowered seat. This achieved a new seat height of 812mm - just a couple of mm higher than the Serow
Next job is to fit a shorter stand as it stands about upright on the current standard one
I'm a newbie, in the sense that I have: - just bought a TTR250 (having carefully researched the optimum bike - with soft suspension - for an old fart like me with a bad back), - just registered for this excellent forum, - and haven't ridden off road since I was a teenager; I bought the TTR to go green laning with my sons, who are 10 and 8, and have respectively PW80 and PW50 trail bikes. The first thing I found was that the bike was too tall for me. I have a 29 inch inside leg and could ride it, but only just, and was barely touching the ground with both feet on tip toes. I bought a Koulalink lowering kit, and hey presto, 2 inches has made a huge difference. Good piece of kit.
mines down to 830mm seat hight sitting under it's own weight..
at the standard hight I put it down a few times stoping on uneven ground
was just a bit to tall on anything but flattish ground...
I dropped the TTR twice on our trip to the Flinders, both times I was stood still but could not touch the ground, I find the TTR not too bad, I'm 5'6"& can tipy toe with one foot !!! But the WRR is another story as I really struggle with that bike, ok when I'm moving just becomes a problem when I stop
I WISH YOU DIDNT HAVE TO SAND THE KNUCKLE A LITTLE B4 YA LENGTHEN THE SHOCK AND I DONT HAVE A SHOCK LOOT DOES TOTALLY TTRS HAVE A UPGRADED SHOCK OR A STOCK WR SHOCK OR SOMETHIN BECAUSE I LOVE THE CUSTOMFAB OPTIONS OF THIS BIKE THE WR250 CAN ISA MUST I WANT BLACK AND I NEED EXAUST WRAP
I sometimes ride with a 5ft guy who rides a KDX200 or his KTM450. He has 1 inch raised soles on his SIDI crossfire boots. I always just wonder about the extra weight on your foot.
