While you got the carb off check the intake (rubber) boot is not perished & your seals are good.

I still have a full carby ''kit'' here....All genuine YAMAHA PARTS.  It cost me $68.26 shipped from the US. You can have it for $70.00 if you like (mates rates). (up to you)

Hi All

Before I start stripping bits off the bike I thought I would ask

As the title suggests it's running a bit rough in the bottom of the rev range

No problem starting, stopping, no backfires or starving, it's all good, just a bit rough

I figured just strip the carb and give it a clean out and maybe reset the float if needed

Any suggestions ?

Your on the right track....

When you do this drop your needle down one setting.

That should be the third setting (if it has'nt already been done)

Failing that....Give me your address again & i'll send you my old needle set. It is still good as new aww

Don't play with your float setting!

Unless the float is not shutting off level with the carby this will not be needed.

Thanks, I thought so

Also I got the idea from the Carb rebuild thread about annealing for the leaky sump but wasn't sure if that was what you meant

So a bit leaner you think as well, I haven't looked at the plug for some time but the exhaust is ever so slightly sooty.

Thanks for the needle offer, I don't know what a worn needle looks like but I would guess ridge lines, blunted point, something like that ?

Thanks for letting me know i may change that on the carby thread.

Yeah it may be running rich from the needle being blunt.

Also good to give it a good soak overnight in clean petrol if you think it's that bad. Remember: An air compressor is your friend wink

If it's worn it will be a little blunt & not have a conical point (if you know what i mean). This can be hard to tell unless you know what to look for.

It's no trouble for me to send the needle set. Call it a swap for the stickers

I will also send you my #147 jet (to be sure)
