Really sorry to hear that Andy. Had a couple of bike thefts in the family and you never seem to come out even and how much value can you put on the aggro
If you want receipts for the extras then let me know.
Not been very active on here as my beautiful 04 TTR was pretty much sorted. Perhaps too pretty as someone has had it away.
WX04 FCJ was the number but I doubt that's the case anymore. It was pretty standard looks wise with bubbled up tank decals and it had an Adventure Travel Film Festival sticker on the front white patch over the headlight. It only had a white patch on the right hand sidepanel. The left was just plain blue.
It had a black Stainless brake hose on the front and one of Brian's bash plates. It had heel guards and a Scottoiler tucked up by the seat bolts under the rear mudguard. The seat bolts were Brian's long flavour and I had fitted one of his metal decompressor plugs at the front of the head.
It had knobbly type Conti TCK 80s front and back. Both were worn but the front was very worn. Too much tarmac...
It had a Acerbis (I think) lockable petrol cap and white Acerbis hand guards. The full round sort. Not the flappies it came with. It had Renthal High Dakar bars but I'd removed the pad off the cross bar.
Its innards were all pretty standard except the plug off the side of the carb had been pulled to let the Scottoiler have its vacuum access and there was a 52.5 pilot jet in it. The airbox was nearly standard as Brian had kindly sent me a scoop/funnel/pipe thing which mine hadn't come with. upon fitting it I discovered that the hole had been enlarged as well. (By the way, it was a much nicer ride with the scoop in.) It had a Twin-air filter.
It had no battery in it, or fuse, as it was off for a charge and someone had monkeyed with the ignition the night before. I'd assumed it was kids but it would seem not. It was chained through the back wheel to a railing which held the chain off the floor and the wheel also had a disc lock on it. At the front the steering lock was on. Nothing was left behind. Just blank paving.
It was taken from off street parking in Hackney, London. No surprise there I guess, but I would greatly appreciate any sightings or info that anyone might come across. I'm about at the point of sending the logbook to the insurance firm as I doubt I'll see it again. It was insured but I don't see that balancing out too well financially. The local Seargant is also a biker and has promised to check other cameras and follow up any other info he gets hold of. He might just be being nice but if I'm honest, I think I'd prefer to get a few fingers or ears in a cardboard box right now.
I empathise with your loss because someone nicked my Diversion in 2000. Although mine was comprehensively insured I was considerably worse off because of the theft.
Believe me, if it was chained, disk-locked and steering locked you don't want it back.
Gutted for you. has made me think about security again. I thought stealing lock disc lock and large chain would do it, but obviously not. Hope you get it back. Adrian
