Just picked up a tidy 02 plate TTR250 to do some green laning with along with my eldest lad who has a KTM250EXC (mad thing) lots of byways near us so looking forward to getting out on her.
Road bike is a GSX1400 Suzuki so this will be a bit different
Going to give her a once over, Oil, filters etc but a heads up on anything particular to check or look out for would be great, no doubt will be adding a few mods before long
What to look for in general is covered in the FAQ section HERE
I doubt if there will be anything blatantly wrong with an 02 plated TTR, that is unless it's been thrashed mercilessly in enduros or such.
Very staid and steady are TTRs - ideal for novices and easy going for all. Supposedly unburstable, but they have been known to object when essential maintenance has been neglected.
At least your TTR will have a stand to stand on, unlike your lad's KTM.
Like you I run a Suzuki as one of my road bikes - GSF1200 - and I grin ear to ear on it too.
I'm sure the TTR will endear itself to you. Unlike being on the road it's not the ccs that matter when you're trailing the byways.
