After Nic's please for pics to show how the TTR goes back together, I thought it might be useful to share some pics of a dead standard bike. I have printed and laminated a couple of these and keep them in the garage to help with rebuilds.

I will add more pics as I find them.

Thanks Brian Saves me having to put the rush on my bike wink I think Nic was more interested in the starter cables ect. though.

Okay maybe i'm wrong but to be honest i'd rather it where it is. Are you sure this is not just for the 'purple'' ttr's as i can't say i have ever seen it there?? Edited: Never mind as my memory has been jogged wink I can remember re-routing it on my last bike to where i have it now (although i did'nt have bar risers (spacers)back then)

It has been awhile since i have thought about this...although i'm more happy where mine is as you can't see it when together & it aint dangling down near the bottom of the triple tree.

If the harness is long enough (which it seems to be) i will not be moving it wink

Jarrah your correct, I did want pictures of the battery side/starter solinoid etc BUT I really do appreciate the pictures Brian has put up. Great idea laminating them and having the visual reference. Maybe when your rebuilds complete your thread, and any other pictures etc could be combined as a 'sticky' for all of us trying to work on our bikes...

Brian,in the pictures you posted can I spy the light switch mod?....can see red crimp on connectors.Im trying to do this mod too....

Hi Nic - I still haven't found good pics for you. Nearest so far are the ones on this thread.

Not fitted a light switch on any of my TTRs yet but, if I did, Iwould take the easy way and put it in the main beam lead (yellow) so that all the wiring is up around the bars and headlight. Dip would work as normal but if you want the headlight beam off just go to main beam and throw the new switch to "off" wink

I wouldn't worry about the tail light, sidelight and instrument lights still being on.

Brian

The wiring harness in the pic does'nt look right where it goes up to the headlight.

Hi Jarrah

Just checked the routing info in the manual and my pics show the harness routing as Mr Yamaha intended - see below - the harness is item 6 :-

It's the same for both purple and white TTRs. The pic was from the blue manual - see the petrol tank mounts wink

Come to think of it i can remember seeing where the harness rubbed into the frame causing the paint to come off. It was in the spot you have it in your pic wink

More pics for Nik. Sorry they are rubbish but I forgot to put the camera on its macro setting for the close ups disbelief

If you can be a bit more specific about what you want to see in the pics then I will try again - but try harder next time!
