Fitting a yellow shock to a raid?

Is there a way to do this?  I would like to have a adjustable shock instead of the fixed one on my bike.

Thanks

Elt

I haven't tried it myself but hertsrider bought a Raid with an adjustable "yellow spring" fitted in place of the original Raid shock so it must be possible wink

I had a adjustable shock on my Raid which came off a later bike and it fitted fine. It sprung a leak last year so I got a shock from Brian which is the correct one for the Raid.

It's sitting in the shed now awaiting repair. I will get around to sending it off for repair one dayyawn

It's like the button that came off my uniform jacket last year, I promised my self I would sew it back on straight away. I need it next weekend, and guess what I still have to do.

Time to get the needle and thread out I think, but there IS still a week to go.......

Dead easy to fit. I took the seat off, removed the subframe brace ( what the rear foot peg is attached to) on the L/H side, took the air box out and the shock slips out no problem once you have the top and bottom mounting bolts out. I have a jack up type moto cross stand which gets both wheels off the ground and I slip a block of wood under the rear wheel to stop it dropping. I have used a tie down strap in the past to hold the wheel up which is much better when it comes to refitting, however the strap got 'borrowed' and I have never got around to getting another oneno

If the shock has been off before you may be lucky and find that the top mounting bolt has been put back in from the left.

Mr Yamaha is a bit of a pain in that it come out of the factory fitted from the right hand side! If that's the case the battery box has to be removed so you can get the bolt out.

P.s. A new shock would make a good birthday presentsmile

Cheers. I have changed stock for stock before but not stock black for the adjustable yellow one.....I thought the mounting holes are different??

If it's just a straight swap I will get one in time once I have sorted out the dreaded sprag lol

I think I need to change the advert in the light of this new information to say that the yellow springed shocks are now also available as an upgrade for Raid owners wink

Well I have to confess that when I fitted the replacement to my Raid I didn't know there was a difference between the older and later bikes. It went straight on. both bolts were the same diameter, no problems!

Cheers Peter, that's good to know. The main reason I thought they were different is that on the totalyttrs web site it says not for the Raid.

Is the cost 150 for a yellow shock or is that service exchange price? As I have the stock one.

The £150 is for an outright purchase - see here. It leaves you with your Raid shock to sell on or keep to sell with the bike in due course wink
