You know I downloaded the free MM trial today but it won't open up. Anything to have a play with would be much appreciated. I'm not keen on using me phone tbh with the way I navigate water biggrin

I've had a few hours off today and I've been messing about and not got anywhere with the online stuff without what looks like spending, then I might still struggle no

I bought a couple of paper ones to use to light the fire though hmm

What won't open up Steve? The Memory Map installation file or Memory Map after the installation?

I followed the free trial instructions and it seemed to be doing it's thing. Then when I click on the desktop icon I just get a load of stuff at the top and a blank space where the maps 'should' be? Just tried again and it's as if I've not got a free trial and it keeps asking for activation codes.

If I've got to pay I need to be sure it's retard proof biggrin

I'm ****e at this sort of stuff tbh.

Hi Steve

I just installed the MemMap trial software (same as the full package but some functions are disabled until you buy a licence and register) on Trish's PC and the only map that comes with it that you can usefully play with is the OS Route Planner 2015. Go into Map -> Map List  and click on its name and it should load onto your screen. It lets you play with route and tracks etc.

But for it to be a useful trial you need some 1:25k and 1:50k OS mapping for your area. Happy to help you with that if you want?

Brian

Thanks again for all the help with the Road angel Brian, I have managed to fumble my way to creating a route and getting it on to the device I just need some kind of waterproof holder now and to sort out a power supply as I recon the battery won't last long :)

I got GAIA GPS recently for my iPhone and a tablet and I'm very impressed. $20 and does most of what I need. Comes with all USGS topo quads which can be downloaded and used offline with the GPS. Easy export/share to google earth. Synchs your pictures too. Pretty slick, I might even be chuffed. I suspect it's designed for the U.S. topo quad system, however.
