Raid aftermarket headlight switch wire to cut?

I did see that but was confused (excuse my ignorance), do both the yellow AND black have to be cut and run through the switch or is there one that will work for both high/low beam.

If your talking about the headlight wire its One wire for low and one high third is an earth

It would depend on how many wires are in your '''Raid aftermarket headlight switch'''

Welcome to TTR land Michael.

In the FAQ area is, perhaps, your answer:-

Headlight, Tail Light and Instrument Illumination Switch Installation If you don't like the "headlight always on" then fit a simple switch and splice it into the yellow and black wires just by the left hand bar switch. A much more comprehensive solution has been submitted by TTR250 Forum member "hp67" from Adelaide - see http://users.on.net/~sandr/ttr250.htm

Thanks Martyn,

OK, let's assume its a single wire switch (haven't bought it yet). Would the earth resolve the issue without affecting anything else? Black wire?

Hi Michael. Welcome to the wonderful world of TTR's

On my old raid the headlight feed is via the brown wire in the multi plug as detailed in the link posted by Cubber

All I did was to cut this wire and extended both the wires up to the bars. It was a simple job to fit a switch like the one on the Totaly TTR's site. This breaks the live feed up to the headlight hi-low beam switch. It's as simple as thatsmile But this method will not switch off the tail light. If you want to switch that as well you will have to follow the details in the above link

Your existing plug to the original head light will have three wires and as Barra8 says one is for high, one for low and one is the earth. Not sure on the colours, but if you get stuck, I can have a look at mine at the weekend to see what they are.

If you have a multi meter you can check them out to see which ones give power on the hi-Low switch.

Hope this helps

Peter

This is great. Thanks guys. The brown wire is what I wanted to know. Not worried about the taillight. Cheers!

I take it that the raid light is plastic mounted

Just a switch in the earth wire will do the job best part it the wires you run rub through the worst thing is the light would come on .

Japenese cars have been doing it that way for years
