Hi all,

just recently bought my 2004 TTR 250 to learn the art of off road motorcycling!

Had a minor adventure with a DR650SE, Big and heavy, especially when on top of you!! no

Nonetheless common sense paid a visit and I downsized to a "proper" bike.

All Ive done so far with mine is fit a Trelleborg (mitas) XT954 rear tyre which has had an instant good effect but I must check my sprockets number of teeth as my mate seems to go places on his Djebel 250 when I seem to run out of puff, particularly when Im on muddy, slippy climbs...

Welcome to TTR land, Jasperthehorse. handshake.gif

You're in a nice bit of England, I miss the northeast quite a bit since moving diagonally to Devon nigh on three years ago.  sadangel.gif

A bonus of Devon, however, is the number of legal lanes and trails which are really enjoyable and rewarding.  thumbsup.gif

I think you will enjoy the TTR - judging by your picture it seems to be capable of dragging the scenery around. Do you get far on it? confuse

Martyn

The plan is to get back into laning, was well into green laning with landrovers but lost direction with it a while ago. Some cracking lanes on my doorstep in north yorkshire and the borders with cumbria and durham. Had a look at my sprocket set up today and all becomes clear (i think) Im on 13 and 44. Im no expert but noboby else seems to run that on these forums? I will put a seperate thead on to the exsisting one I found.

I'm on 13:48 supplied by totally TTRs and its great. When (if) you swap it be sure to check the chain slider that protects the part of the swingarm nearest the frame, as it can get worn out and cause problems.

Update!!

Im making good use of my little fella biggrin

This was from a run in North Yorkshire last week, only just got the photo of my mates phone. Storming little bike.

Dropped it twice, once unlucky in a river bed and once was rider error (overconfidence). TTR just got back up and off we went again.

Did scrape my ignition casing and bend a footrest lever though disbelief

Looks like fun. What did you do about sprockets in the end?

Well the sprockets....

On the day the photo was taken we had a trailer "malfunction" hence we had to ride around 30 miles to get to the jump off point for the lanes we had planned on the day and then obviously ride home. Sat at 55mph on the A1 back home tucking in behind HGV's cry

So my set up made that easier for us and to be honest I didnt really struggle on the lanes to much either. I suspect I may suck and see for a while, I think I need to invest in frame guards and a bash plate first after bouncing around on rocks all day...
