My son has outgrown his PW80 so I'm looking for something bigger for him (he's 11 btw). My local dirt bike shop has a TTR 125 for sale (for £350 + the PW80), which seems about the right size for him, and he's quite keen on it. He's not into racing so not really interested in a KX65 or similar 2 stroke, but just likes ridding for fun.
Anyone know anything about the 250's smaller brother? Anything I should look out for, common faults, that kind of thing?
Thanks in advance,
Nigel.

Yes I know it's a long shot, but you never know, someone might have had one, or know someone who has. I haven't been able to find a TTR125 forum like this one!
The reviews on that site are predominantly positive, and with my son beong only 11, this would probably suit him for a couple of years. The alternatives are the likes of a KX65 or an 80cc 2-stroke machine, which I think would frighten him off - a "softer" bike might be better for learning clutch control, etc.

I have no personal experience, but the TTR125 is quite popular over here in CA. They are very common on Craigslist. I believe that they have a good reputation, but kids outgrow them. Thus, the high turnover.
Thanks all for the replies - the CRF150 looks nice, but a bit too big for him (and too expensive for me!).
I've bought the TTR125 for now just so he can learn to ride a bike with a clutch. Fully expect to be selling it in a year, but it will have fulfilled its purpose by then I hope!
Well done - get him out on the Northumbrian lanes and let him enjoy himself.
There are quite a few, long lanes up both sides of the Hexham valley - a really good 1.7mile lane from just north of Haydon Bridge at a place called Cubstocks - it goes Westward to Thorngrafton Common and has some lovely muddy puddles, a few jumps and trees. The views from up there are stunning as well.
Please report back on his progress - I bet it won't be too long before he wants a TTR.
the yamaha ttr 125 is a great bike iv been riding these bike from 15 years old up to 24 years old and thats what got me to get the big brother ttr 250. nothing ever went wrong apart from rear wheel bearings and brake pads thats all i ever done on the bike . iv also had the honda crf 100 . suzuki drz 125. and the ttr is alot better than the other two by far . alot better quality
