as the title suggests, im interested in knowing what size tubes people carry if they are going for an adventure.
i have a 19 inch tube, so it can stretch into the front, or sqeeze into the rear in an emergency. obviously i wouldnt keep it in there I would change it when i could.
For safety and surety I usually carry a new 21 inch tube, levers and small pump. One tube will do for front or rear at a stretch - as long as you have only one puncture.
If I have a front flat then the wheel comes out, tyre comes off and new tube fitted, inflated and the run continues as before.
If I have a rear flat then the wheel comes out, the tyre comes off and the 21" tube is squashed in, tyre replaced and inflated gently to stretch and expand the tube in the bigger tyre.
When the run is continued I wouldn't give it any big-licks at all.
I would replace the rear tube with a proper sized 400x18 at my earliest opportunity - probably at home.
Ditto great tip Matt, I am going for a two day trip so could take a spare tube and do the repair properly at the end of the day, but use the zip ties so as not to hold everyone up during the ride. Beauty mate, thanks heaps.

I also carry an aerosol can of tyre goo as it will easily repair a simple thorn puncture plus a Slime compressor to make re-inflation easy
i carry a front tube .if on longer rides each bike will carry a front or rear so we have a seldction .
i have tryed the slime but so far it hasnt worked .
i also carry patches and a colapsable tire pump . also if riding in realy remote areas i like to increase the preasure a bit to.reduce the chance of pinch flats .
