Fork Alignment?

Hi there, Just got my bike registered & running well enough to start taking a few shakedown runs on the roads around town. Still more lighting & things to add to before it's inspectable & 100% street legal (USA).

Tonight on the pavement, probably cuising in 6th, I noticed that the bars seemed a little ****-eyed. So as I rode the last mile home, I kept an eye on the front end & it looks to me like the forks (tubes, triple-clamps) are tweaked a little to the right when the bike is going straight.

I took a look through the manual but didn't see mention of alignment. I would think there would be some leeway with the triple clamps loosened but thought I would ask if there was some sort of procedure.

Thanks, Ted

I have had this happen after coming off on the lanes. My temporary remedy is to find a gate post or other solid object to place the front wheel against and bang the forks and bars straight again against the post.

There isn't any special way of aligning the forks that I know of as, once the clamps are loosened, everything should self level.

I would just loosen off the clamps, reposition the bars as best you can see and tighten it all up again and take it for a test run.

Thanks for your reply.

I'll loosen it all up & see if it will straighten out. It really didn't seem to affect annything other than the slightly crooked bars.

The way the plastics are tweaked, I'm sure the bike experienced some spirited riding in the past which could account for the front-end.
