Hi Rob and welcome to the forum!

Good luck with the refurb. Lots of knowledgeable owners on here if you need to ask any questions.

I am loving riding around on my restored TTR - see here

Regarding the carb seals, I am not aware of anyone offering a kit but its fairly basic as to what you need. The following part numbers are Yamaha ones.

Float chamber gasket - 4GY-14384-00-00

Diaphragm O rings (2 needed) - 5Y1-14397-00-00

Carb diaphragm may be needed if existing one's rubber has hardened or perished - 4GY-14940-00-00

See http://ttr250.activeboard.com/t47674647/simple-pictorial-guide-to-stripping-and-checking-a-carb/

Brian

PS We would all very much appreciate pics of your progress wink

Hi all, I've just stripped my bike down to totally refurbish it, ie getting the frame blasted and powder coated, wheels re-spoked ect, what I would like to know is, are there any uk sites that sell carburetor seal kits, or is there another type of bike that uses the same ttr parts..I have the 1996 OE version..Cheers Rob..

Thanks Brian for the part numbers, wish I'd taken some pictures of the "before", the bike has been unused for the last 3yrs due mainly to not being able to get an original metal tank to replace the rust riddled one i had, looking forward to getting the bits all done as its a cracking bike..

Cheers Rob..

Did you source a replacement tank in the end?

It is surprising what a good repair can be made with Chemical Metal.

Not had a repaired one fail yet.

Yes Brian,

Repaired my old tank, it went where the seat rubs first, then the bottom of the tank became perferated which i tried to cure with a recomended two mix inside the tank but ended up chasing leaks (live by the sea, takes no prisoners), a lad asked me if he could buy it for spares, looked on ebay last week after 3yrs of looking on and off and low and behold there was one in Dundee, it arrived today and its spot on..So I've got the bug back, and can't wait to get it back on the road...
