My indicators flash!!!!! finally...

When I bought the old girl it only had 2 original indicators that stayed on when you flicked the switch.

I purchased some LED fancy ones from Ebay and fitted them up front and rear but they still stayed on. Well after replacing the flasher can twice I finally purchased the correct flasher to suit the LED's (NARVA 68251BL) and wired it in tonight. I had to cut the brown wire leading to the pilot lamp and connect it to earth (0V ground) but the load from this kept the pilot flashing after I turned the indicators off. So I then cut the Brown/White cable and ran a new wire from the Brown/White to the Pilot terminal on the flasher can and voila everything works a treat! biggrin

I am still baffled as to why the original pilot light wiring effectively shorted across the original flashers connections thus rendering the flasher useless and hence the lamps staying on when switching the indicators...

My bike is now fully legal..... now if can just find some trails that are fully legal too.. hehehe

on that note a copper mate of mine has just bought a WR400 so when I go riding with him in the forest from now on I am performing search and rescue operations as a subcontractor to the police force.... well that's the story I'm gunna give the rangers anyway

I found this advise online somewhere

LED indicators need Resistors wired in series with the positive lead

25w / 6ohm

1 per indicator

this will give the correct resistance per indicator for the flasher unit to work

Haven't tried this but resistors are only a few cents each so wirth a try before buying expensive flasher units

Steve

I tried the resistor line and had no luck, these LED specific relays are $22.00 and work a treat!
