rear brake foot lever

Hello

today when riding home from work the bolt that holds the rear brake foot pedal snapped :(

Has anyone had this problem before?

what do you think i should do to fix this?

The thread is stuck in the frame itself so i cant even see drilling it out and tapping it will work :/

Thanks for any help

Dan

Bad luck Dan!

Same happened to me whilst over in S Ireland trail riding. I put a cable tie around the lever and frame so the lever didn't fall out of the housing and was able to carry on riding for the day.

When we got back to base it was a relatively simple job to drill out the broken stud portion and replace it with a temporary bolt and spacer.

I got new and s/h replacement bolts in stock so PM me if you want one.

Brian

Must be a common fault,I've just repaired mine,I drilled it out and used a 10mm grade 8.8 bolt and locknut. I also had to do one of the bolts holding the footrest on the same side.

I had to replace mine a couple of months ago - the lever was wagging around like a dogs tail it was that loose.

I have ordered a new bolt from Brain, so hopefully all goes well when drilling the old one out!

Centre drills are best for this. They are easier to start on centre. Not just for lathes!
