Swingarm disassembly

I have taken the swingarm off to repair the scratches in it caused by a work out chain slider. Whilst its off, and since the bit I've repaired needs painting anyway, I thought I would paint the swingarm. To do this I have tried to take the suspension linkage off but can't get it to budge.

I checked the fiche but its not clear.

I have looked at Brians 'Modernising a TTR' post and he says to partly undo the nut on the side you can undo it on and hit it with a hammer. Will there be anything fall out if I do this? Is it easy enough to reassemble? Are there any parts I will need?

*****FROM BRIANS POST*****

The first bolt on the link arm was well stuck in. The technique I have found works is to undo the bolt about quarter of an inch and then start to beat the main bolt through with a wide punch on the bolt head. Keep spraying any exposed parts of the bolt with WD40 to help things along. That usually gets it moving after which you can use a decent wide round bar to drift out the bolt. I used an old link bolt which, of course, fitted perfectly. Make sure you clean it up well and lube it so you don't get it stuck as well smile

Q Will there be anything to fall out if I do this?
A. Only the link arm if you are lucky to get the part 43 out!

Q. Is it easy enough to reassemble?
A. It all depends on the state of the bearings in the link arm itself - numbers 41 and 41. Usually they are still greasy and stay in place. If the needle roller bearings are dry and rusty they may well fall into a heap on the floor - this is highly unlikely unless you are VERY unlucky!

Q. Are there any parts I will need?
A. Other than the swing arm bearing end seals and caps, I don't think so unless you muller part 43 trying to get it out.

May I make a suggestion? If you are happy that there is no play on the link arm bearings and that the link arm moves freely back and forth with no nasty noises then why not assume it is all OK and just spray it as part of the overall repaint job?
