I've stripped my TTR down for just offroad use so have these parts for sale, post up or PM me for prices, I would prefer an offer for the lot,can post anywhere.
Speedo mph & km/idiot light console,Headlamp, LH & RH handlebar switches,Starter motor(working),Starter solenoid(working), almost new Ignition Switch with 2 keys and back plastic cover, Rear light(light scratches but not cracked), Rear alloy footpegs,Indicator flasher box, Sidestand,Sidestand Switch, Front brakelight switch, Uncut Airbox Snorkel,Battery box,Engine guard bar(needs painting).
You sound like Santa wirth that sackfull of gifts on offer.
Most of what you offer is desirable to many. I don't think your TTR will be overweight when that lot's shifted and I'm curious to know why you want to discard the starter? I shouldn't like to rely solely on my kickstarter.
There have been a few TTR riders asking for the grab handles but I see that you're keeping yours.
Hi Cubber, yeah I've seen that these parts are sought after, one of the reasons I've offered them on here before they go on Fleabay. Electric starters? They're for sissies aren't they? :) Seriously though,I've had lots of dirt bikes over the years, all without electric starters except my last bike ,an XT600 Tenere,(which was just too big and heavy for a playbike)and have never found it a problem. I had an XT550 before the 600 ,no electric start, and that COULD be a b*stard to start after you've fallen off. Brilliant bike for a bit of hillclimbing though. After a break of about 12 years,I bought this TTR to go out riding with my son ,who's now got a CRF250,his first bike was a TTR125 and it was a lovely little bike but a bit small and underpowered for me,so I thought a TTR250 would fit the bill. I don't use the bike on the road at all so I wanted to get the weight right down ,I've stripped everything unnecessary off it (the grab handles weren't on it when I bought it),cut off any unused brackets etc, even removed the wiring harness and wired it direct, I reckon I've lost about 40lbs,which should bring it down to around the 230lb mark-much better for an 11 stone weakling like me! Future plans may include a 325 big bore and a bit of head porting if I find this a bit underpowered. I've already done the snorkel/exhaust mods so we'll see. I'll let you know how I get on.
Thanks for the information, Paul. It sounds like you're after a different beast.
I respect your logic and like your thinking but in my way of looking at things I'd have taken the easy route and gone for a ready made bike like Gas Gas, Beta or Sherco.
I'm sure I won't be alone in wishing you the best of luck.
Please supply all the pictures and information so that we can all marvel.
The box of parts listed weighs about 18-20 lbs,the battery another 3-4lbs, indicators/stock exhaust/chainguard/grab rails etc must have weighed another 20lbs(they weren't on the bike when I bought it),so I've lost close to 45lbs of excess weight. Couple that with the lowered gearing,13/48,and I'm hoping it will be quite nippy. I may even go for a 13/52 combo when the back sprocket wears out.
