The front fender of the YZ250 (blue) fender fits although it is too long at the back. Can't remember whether i shortened it at the back or it bolts straight on. It does fit though.

Just about any YAMAHA guard will fit the front although the lenghts may be different at the back of the gaurd.

Not sure about the side gaurds...Rear isn't the same on the ones i have seen.

I am new to the TTR as I just bought a 99 TTR-250 a couple months ago. I know there are many topics about this but I just can't seem to find a straight answer.

My plastics are in bad shape, especially the fenders. I have found some front fenders that will work with a little drilling but can anybody tell me if there is a mx style rear fender that I can get to work on my bike. I have found some oem fenders with the tail light but I would prefer to remove the light if I can.

barra8 the topic on front fender interchangability has been beaten to death. The OP is trying to address the Rear fender. Please bring something new to the table.

Not sure about the price's as I have never looked what new is.

That rear mudguard was cheap Colin! No wonder it has already sold.

The front mudguard is an after-market one but they don't say what make. If it was Acerbis or UFO they would say in the advert. Some of the cheap ones I have seen have been so thin as to have been nearly transparent. The after market ones fit a wide range of Yamaha models so can often be bought quite cheaply at your local dirt bike shop.

Agreed, it will need to be an old school mudgaurd.

I had the same issue with my 1990 KX125 that I built last year. My KXF250 mudgaurds are nearly half the width so I couldnt even chop them down to fit.

You would end up modifying the subframe I reckon.

Just bought a TTR front fender off Ebay ,.which then turned out to be a YZ fender..Its a Cycra brand which they say is "better than stock".

Well i don't think it is better..For starters it hasn't got the little metal reinforcers where the bolts go through.
Most of all its not a TTR fender as described..Its a YZ fender..
I have photos as well ,which show the actual difference between the two.

The length at the back is the least of my concerns..
The main problem with the Cycra front YZ fenders at least ,is that the channel at the top where it bolts onto the fork brace ,is too shallow.
That means the conduit carrying brake (?) cable gets pinched between mudguard/fender and fork brace.
This in my opinion is unacceptable. Last thing i want is anything suss on the front end.

The stock TTR set-up allows for the conduit and cable to move freely. This is for good reason and should not be altered.
Its also not an acceptable option in my opinion ,to 'pack out the gap' so as to create enough space for the cable.
This could create vibration at speed and/or noise or at the very least ,a weakness where the fender is not flush against the fork brace surface.

When i buy a "TTR fender....form fitting and stronger than stock"...i expect to get exactly that.
Especially when the YZ fender is advertised seperately as a YZ fender and its never mentioned as fitting a TTR.
I wanted to get the TTR looking good for sale...A dodgey fender is not a selling point ,for good reason. ..Its dodgey !!

Saying that a YZ fender is good for a TTR is BS in my experience with the Cycra brand.
Just because the bolt holes line up does not mean its suitable. Although if you are happy to manufacture some type of spacer plate ,then maybe its OK.
Thats unless the bolts are then too short. Then you will need the proper strength bolts longer than stock blar,.blar.
Thats why its better when things just fit as they are meant to.

Given the widespread popularity of the TTR's ,i can't see why its so difficult to supply the correct part.
Its now taken me many hours of e-mails to the dodgey seller trying to work this out.

This makes me wonder what the Yamaha dealer is good for if they can't supply common parts like fenders for a reasonable price...The Ebay one was 25 plus 20 postage.
The dealer said they wanted 60 for the same amount of blue plastic..Difference being..it would fit as designed. I think 30 would be better.

The longer trailing end of the YZ fender may also present problems since it is out of spec and not stock issue..Trimming the fender might also create hassles if it goes a bit wrong.

If you fitted that fender to your bike you would see that it is a straight up bolt-on fit other than the fact that the rear is too long and needs to be trimmed. On the YZ fender it is long so it protects the radiators. On the TTR it is short so that air flow can pass over the cylinder head etc.. without cutting it you may over-heat your engine.

The long mudgaurd is not a fitment problem as it fits without cutting but as mentioned above it needs to be trimmed.

YZ250F (4 stroke) is what your after I believe or WR250F. I bought one of those, can't remember which but I'm sure they are the same and it fit perfectly, I didn't shorten the rear of it, prefer it saving more mud landing on the bike, I can't see it would block much airflow. I used washers so it didn't crush the cabling too much. Been good for a few years now.

I bet Brian would know, but I am certain I bought a UFO one from ebay to suit 06-14 models.

Just looking on Ebay now and I swear that's the same one i have.
