Just picked my ttr it's a 1994 bike imported in 2000, 6000 miles, Just a few points, It's missing the cover for the idiot lights and bulbs aren't working is this easy to come by and needed for mot It's got king knobblies on which says motorcross use only are these road legal There a few rust spots every where what's best to clean them up. Good point good engine, mini indicators, working speedo and full bash guard and metal side protectors. Not bad for a £1000.

Good to hear you got your TTR smile

Keep an eye on TTRs breaking on eBay for your idiot light cover but it is unlikely a seller will take them off a complete working speedo to sell seperately. I am 99.9% sure that it isn't an MOT requirement.

I think it highly unlikely that your King MX tyres will be road legal. Check their website and also see if you have MST stamped anywhere on the tyre to show its road legal.

Wire brush the worst of the rust off, emery or wet and dry paper to smooth, wipe with clutch & brake cleaner or similar to get rid of any grease and then spray or hand paint with the matching frame paint.

The only idiot light you need is an indicator one, and only if the front indicators functioning cannot be seen from the riding position.

Gave it a strip down last night and found a pin size hole in the fuel tank where the seat has rubbed, is this a weld job or some thing else.
And one of the aluminium engine brackets at the front has flacked off.

Needs abit more work than thought, but what's frame colour name and where can I purchase it

Also is there a cover thats goes under the mud guard or is it just frame and then top cover.

Plastic Padding's Leak Fix will sort your pinhole - Halfords stock it.

See here for more info on refurbishing tanks.

S/h engine brackets are easy to get hold of.

Frame paint info here

Rear mudguard is frame and mudguard only - no cover.

Will get that leak fix stuff then paint then some clear clear duck tape so it rubs that rather than the paint and tank,

How much are the engine brackets normally along with paint is that available at Yamaha dealer ship

And one last thing the horn makes a very quiet sound when pressed is it the connectors or new horn

At least it will be abit tidier for when using and will do a oil and filter change looks like the sump gaurd doesn't have a access hole so will be removed and check frame condition.

Where would the adjuster be located, can't wait to pass test and get it on the road need to get MOT and Tax first.

One side of the engine bracket has flacked down about half way.

Found a person on eBay with frame touch up paint! Might get some thick coach paint for areas that ain't visible on the frame. Is it easy to remove the rear bumber

The horn is adjustable if my memory serves me correctly. First get all the mud etc out of it and then look for a small screw with locknut and have  a play wink

If you get stuck for the new parts and are happy with s/h engine brackets then drop me a PM or email.

I am not sure if Yamaha do the frame paint but, if they do, I would be interested in comparing their price with RS Paints.

I will have a look at that tomorrow along with starting to remove rust and undo rust sump gaurd bolts to check bottom frame rail.

Its very easy to break a horn by changing that screw.

Might just get a cheap horn from bike shop, what hammerite rust paint matches the frame colour best,

What else should I check after been laid up for 12 months.
