Well I will start with saying this is one of the best trips iv ever done. well worth it. Myself and the boss (misses) took our 2 weapons of choice 2000 ttr250 and a 2007 crf150f up to the alpine national park.
We base camped at a place called sheep yard flats on the north eastern border, just south of MT Bulla (popular ski area in winter). The camp was 25m away from a small river that was abundant in trout (rainbow and brown). the veiws were also amazing
Other then the first day where we were stupid enough to go for a ride in very heavy rain and came back so cold we were not able to even talk. The weather was amazing.
However on the 3rd day our battery in the car died, as the camping fridge was left on..... Lucky for us there were plenty of friendly people around to help, one who had a battery charger run off a little generator, which saved our bacon.
The ttr ate up the trails with ease, and the trails (a mixture of very slippery clay and hard sharp slate) ate my rear tire just as easily!!
the area had everything from wide dirt roads, slippery hill climbs, creek crossings, tight single trails and tight U turn corners. I 100% recommend it to all skill levels! As there are usually 2 options to get somewhere. The hard and easy way.
All in all a very good trip
bellow area a few happy snaps from the trip
they include a pic of the camp site, the trout i caught, an old slate quarry we stumbled across, and various views from the top of the hills/ mountains
