Hi all,

New to the forum (just found the site), but not new to TTR's. Bought my 1999 TTR250 back in 04, did a bit of bush riding with mates for a few months, then decided to do a 4WD trip around OZ so I spent the next 18 months planning, saving and preping the Hilux for that. Did the 4 month trip and came back with a pregnant girlfriend, so sell my house, buy a 'family' home, be a good father, save, save, save, have another child, ect, ect, you get the picture. All this time poor TTR sits patiently waiting for me and maybe gets taken out twice in 5-6 years, the last ride resulting in a huge flat spot and not wanting to rev.

Having been convinced by a few that it was a cracked/burnt valve it sat there untouched and the 'chief financial officer' (not me!) would not approved funds for a rebuild. "sell it" was her catch cry. Well, finally I got a workshop manual, gave the carby a full stripdown/rebuild as a process of elimination and low and behold... It's alive!

So sitting in the shed after a full detail clean I have a

1999 TTR250 with

3230km's on the clock (2007 miles), had 2700km on clock when I bought it!

TK aftermarket exhaust

Afam handlebars and bark busters.

Weather permiting on Sunday, a few hours in the bush to 'learn the ropes' again might be in order. It's been 3 years since my last ride and 5 years since my last 'big' ride. Hope my riding gear still fits!

Welcome to the land of TTR Kylarama.
Your a new oldie it would seem and you're wise enough to think outside the box and not jump to the first conclusion.

I'm glad you sorted the "burnt valve" with a carby rebuild - much cheaper outcome.

Enjoy the return to getting to know it again. wink

Martyn
