A new year, but a few jobs were required to get the bike fit for use. confuse

First off was a filter and oil change. I bought a 5 litre bottle of Motul 5100 semi synthetc ester oil 10w-40 and got 10% TRF discount also.

I know 5 litres is a tad much and the oil is considered too good for TTRs, but it's exactly what I use in the 1200 Bandit, which is 3 litres, and the rest is just the job for the TTR. wink

I managed to get a new Pirelli MT43 from Albion in October with TRF discount too. biggrin

A bit of slogging in fitting the cold rubber but eventually got it running truly (Fairy liquid to the rescue).

Can you tell which is the new tyre? confuse

With new rubber on it is now running very close to the rubber flap. I had to reinforce the flap last year by using an old milk carton, soldering iron and gaffa tape. It worked but I reckon another repair may be imminient.

Last job, but by no means least, was to renew the front bracket for the bash plate. The Yamaha original is a bit of femmer folded tin at the foot of the down tube. This had fractured. cry

A phone call was made and I did a trip along the coast to Beer today for a repair - not a pint!

Tim fabricated and fitted a replacement in no time at all and the bike is now complete.

I will be taking it out and testing on my first 2012 TRF run this Saturday.

Can't wait now.  wink

Hope to be with you on Saturday's run Martyn - my first run for months and a bit of a warm up before a longer run on Sunday with Paul F.

Regarding the mud flap, I wouldn't worry. To tidy it up just cut it off where the rubbing starts. When you sit on the bike you will see that the remaining bit of the flap still meets the swing arm and therefore protects the shock etc from mud being thrown up by the wheel.

"Gaschef" Tim is very handy with the MIG and TIG welding wink

To prepare for the weekend, I had to replace a bent RH footpeg support. Too solid a bit of metal for me to bend straight without oxy-acetelene. Also fitted a new Motad s/s silencer and sorted out my Wolfman tank bag.

Gonna stick with my half-worn MITAS CO2 on the rear. Oil and petrol topped up, battery good, poppers on riding jacket replaced so I reckon I am just about ready to roll biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

See you Saturday smile

Brian
