What is this bit ?

Hi all

Can anyone tell me what this thing is, I pulled it appart the other day and it was full of water and the various parts were all full of sludge, so it's all clean now but what does it do and is it even needed ?

Can't I just connect the breather pipe from the head streight to the airbox ?
Pic

Thanks

Steve

You could put the breather straight into the airbox, but all the sludge and water etc would collect in your airbox instead.

I prefer all that sludge to collect in the plastic swirl thingy, and every so often take it off and clean it out.

That must be why it has those quick release clamps, thanks for the imput, I may try and connect it direct anyway, I clean the airbox out fairly often anyway

Thanks
