The standard number plate holder has been a bit of a bugbear for me over the years and I have broken and repaired quite a few and some were bad enough to throw away. I use a flexi number plate and that one has always survived
I have recently had some "tail tidies" made up in stainless steel (light, strong and rust free!) and picked up the first batch on Monday.
Haven't had time to do much with them yet but just fitted one to an Open Enduro (your TTR has exactly the same fixings) as shown on the pics below. Holes are pre-drilled for the number plate light if you are looking for a full UK MOT, rather than just a daylight one.
I'm sorry the pic is not totally clear but I came up with this mod;
Its slightly different but fits the same as Brian's Tail Tidy. Its made from 3mm aluminium plate and has taken a good pounding so far. Had to put a flexi number plate on though.
I just made a template out of card and then copied it in Ally
Nice job Mike! I am sure you will agree it takes a bit of work to get all the tabs bent right to attach to the original TTR frame fixings
I am very pleased with my new tail tidies. I had already done a few repairs to my number plate holder over the years so, when I broke the side tab off and the repair didn't hold, I decided it was time to bin it!
I fitted a new unit this afternoon and I think it will last longer than my "many times repaired" flexi number plate.
Before anyone asks, we had a spate of dirtbikes being stopped because of undersize number plates hence I use a big 'un. Still not entirely legal but it isn't going to draw attention.
Quite pleased with the finished job although not much shows!
