Hi from Australia.

I have owned my ttr250 for about two years now and recently did a ten thousand kilometer trip on it just six months ago. And my baby loved it! It wanted more. All my mates doubted it would make it but oh man it did.

As u can imagine it has a few chips and stuff now and i am really wanting to fix some paint up on the frame but i am having alot of trouble finding a paint code for the frame over here in AUS. Is there anyone who can help me with this problem?

While we are on the subject does anyone know a cheap place to get oem or same (better) PURPLEISH-blue paint for TTR 250 in Australia??? Online,offline ect...

I do relize it's a long shot but maybe someone knows???

I don't think that postage is to blame, Barra.

The prices in the catalogue say "£8.00 +VAT & shipping" so it seems like the base cost is listed.

It isn't cheap but it should be the correct colour blue if nothing else.

I hasten to add that I haven't bought or tried any of their products but since Mr TTR was having little success in sourcing a match I thought it may have been interesting.

I tried the CarPlan BLUE-54 (MET) YNC005 and its not a very close match

The match was very good and I was more than pleased.

Not a clue about cross ref to the chart you mention.

The website they used  and the one I have quoted was what they were obviously happy to use for the paint code when mixing in the shop.

I would try someone local who is happy with that web site OR give the motor factors that I used a ring quoting the info I have given and get them to send some out to you,

The paints you link to are both for the plastic tank TTRs.

The first metallic paint (0564) is for the frame and the non-metallic (0583) is, I guess, to match the plastics. Useful to have if you are going to have a go at respraying some panels!

The parts manual for the blue TTR shows the silver paint code as 0035.

I have just had an aerosol of metallic blue frame paint made up by Halfords at £13.99 for a 300ml can. They used the codes posted here. Just had a go with it and it is a fair bit darker than the original.

I thought it was close enough for me to carry on using it in my current resto project but having removed the masking tape etc I can see it is several shades too dark so am now dependent on the 400ml aerosols I have ordered from RS Paints being a better match  Let's hope they arrive son as it's now holding me up 

According to the parts manual, the frame paint for the metal tank TTRs has colour code 0206, its called"Purplish White Solid 1" which is abbreviated to PWS1.

The removable rear LHS sub frame strut was the only bit of the bike suffering from rust. After removing it I lightly grit blasted and then sprayed it, this picture may show the match compared to the rest of the bike.

can anyone tell me were i can get some of the purple colour used on a ttr 250 1993 to use as a touch up i would rather have a small tin than a aerosol.Thanks

Just one thing- The ColorRite website is only good for people in the US, anyone in Australia CANNOT buy it. We only have the option of going to a good paint shop that sells DuPont. I have the codes for the blue model if anyone needs it.

The paint codes below are Yamaha's codes. You need both the metallic and the solid, the metallic goes on first, then the solid, then the clear coat.

TT-R250                5GFD / 5GFE        Team Yamaha Blue/White                 Deep Purplish Blue Metallic C                   0564 (DPBMC)            

TT-R250R/C                                                                                            Deep Purplish Blue Solid E                       0583 (DPBSE)

You should be able to give those codes to the paint store, and they should be able to make it up. Bear in mind that it won't be cheap though.

 There was confusion about this on the forum for some time. Until awhile ago, it was thought that the ''solid'' was for the plastics. It is NOT!

  If you have too much trouble, let me know and I will ring the paint shop that I got my paint from for the paint formula.

On my OE, I use Halfords Ford metallic purple or something on the wheels, it's a really good match for the rims. Not so for the frame.



I did my heat shield, with 3 coats then 3 lacquer, no primer, just a quick scuff-up with some emery cloth. I was sick of the rusty, grey paint of the original, it's still OK, but the lacquer isn't very resistant to high temps, it has started to bubble around the bolts, I assume it gets hottest there. You can just see on the left, where I tried to touch up a bare patch on the frame, it doesn't look very good, and started rubbing off again in no time.

Just looked at the aerosol can from RS Paints - says French Blue which matched my frame 

But I see they also list Blue Violet for similar aged TTRs

Thought I would add my twopence worth - I bought some frame paint from www.bikecolours.com about a year ago. They do touch up kits, aerosols etc. and ship worldwide.

The paint I bought was 'Yamaha DPBMC' and it is a pretty good match for the later blue-framed bikes.

I did order spray cans at following online shop in Germany.

Both colours needed were ordered :

1) Deep-Purplish-Blue-Met-C

As each set comes with a clearcoat cannister no additional clearcoat spray is needed.

I must admit that after applying both sprays + clearcoat the result was even better than expected.
I hardly can see any difference!!!

I tested the Halfords version of the Austin Rover Tahiti Blue Pearlescent (93) aerosol paint (they didn't have the Holts version) with Halfords aerosol  laquer:- 1 primer coat, 2 topcoats, 1 coat of laquer, on bare metal. In daylight, this is far too dark to be considered acceptable for anyone wishing a close match.

Probaby an old post, but I had the same problem when looking for paint to re-do the frame today. Spoke to my local paint shop guy and he loaned me his colour charts. After looking through them today I chose SEAT AZUL SWING - code S5G whch looks pretty damn close (I think ) Hope this helps chaps
