Hello all ,
Just thought i'd make this ''THREAD'' for usefull internet links.
I also made it for others and myself to share idea's and feedback.
When you reply i will check it out and update it if i think it is usefull info.
I want to keep this straight foward as possible without too many posts to wade through
This is reason why some ideas may not be uploaded on this thread

 Also only
 ''trusted sites''
Your idea's will be helpfull so any relevent info on the topics would be good

Feedback on colorite paint so far:

The removable rear LHS sub frame strut was the only bit of the bike suffering from rust. After removing it I lightly grit blasted and then sprayed it, this picture may show the match compared to the rest of the bike.

 Feedback for RS paint:

Here are a couple of pics to show how much too dark the Halfords paint mix was.

Paint difference 002.jpg

Paint difference 001.jpg

I am pleased to say that the areosols I ordered from RS Paints arrived today. The paint match is very good indeed although the aerosols lay the paint very heavily and it is very easy to create runs. I will soon learn though wink

I think I will stick with RS Paints in the future as they are a known quantity.

Brian.

This is for Microfiche Genuine OEM parts & Aftermarket parts

First i would just like to say if your in the UK or close (even as far as Australia) i suggest you check out Brians online store for aftermarket air filters, jets and other peformance parts. I would 100% recommend his service, advice and competitive prices on TTR'S. I might add he has quite a good range and if he does'nt have it i'm sure he can get it. Performance camshafts and valves

Many thanks to Igor for finding the Web Cam site and Brian for posting it somewhere easy to find smile - see here http://www.webcamshafts.com/

They offer two different camshaft sets as shown below. Anyone heard of the company or tried their camshafts?

I found this info for decoding YAMAHA parts....

For a Part Number in the format XXX-XXXXX-XX-XX

XXX-XXXXX-XX-XX
The first three digits are the Model Code (every model in the Yamaha Product Line has a unique model number) all parts are given a Model Code of the first model they were used on.

XXX-XXXXX-XX-XX
The middle five digits are the Basic Code number and indicates the actual part, i.e. 11631 = piston; 11311 = cylinder, etc.
A "W" substituted in the first position of this five-digit group (000-W0000-00-00) indicates a factory assembled kit which differs in content from the original assembly used in production (i.e. 2M0-W0046-00-00 – Rear Break Pad Ass’y).

XXX-XXXXX-XX-XX
The next two digits are the Design Code and Design Change digits (so 01 means the part has had one design change). This part may or may not appear different, but it will be interchangeable with the original part.

XXX-XXXXX-XX-XX
The last two digits are the Color or Finish Code.

...................................................................................................................................................................................

For a Part Number in the format XXXXX-XXXXX-XX

All these parts are Hardware (fasteners), they all start with a '9' and end in '00'.
The second and third digits tells us what type of fastener:

0 - 'various'
1 - bolts, cotter pins
2 - screws, nuts
3 - oil seals, O-rings, bearings
4 - spark plugs
5 - bolts, nuts
6 - ISO bolts
7 - ISO screws and nuts

The fourth and fifth digits tell us what material/surface finish (e.g. chromed).
Digits six and seven give the diameter (inner or outer) e.g. 08 would be an M8 size.
Digits eight, nine and ten are the length (except for '901' bolts for some reason)
There are also standard fastener types...e.g.

90105-XXXXX are Washer based bolts
90116-XXXXX are Studs
90401-XXXXX are Union bolts
99999-XXXXX means that a part has been superceded by a kit.

This post is for interchangable engine parts

ps. you can use boats or powersportsplus to find out most info so have a look and click on the part # if you need it.

Here are some measurements i have done with a micrometer...

  • Standard 0EM 1992-1999 Wristpin length: 57mm
  • Wizeco 1999-2006 74mm piston kit Wristpin length: 57mm

  • Standard 0EM 1992-1999 Wristpin outside diameter: 18mm
  • Wizeco 1999-2006 74mm piston kit Wristpin outside diameter: 18mm

  • Standard 0EM 1992-1999 piston height from wristpin : 15mm
  • Wizeco 1999-2006 74mm piston kit height from wristpin : 15mm

  • Maximum height of Standard 0EM 1992-1999 piston:47mm
  • Maximum height of Wizeco 1999-2006 74mm piston kit height:47mm

As you can see there is no problem with using the Wizeco 1999-2006 74mm piston kit for the 1992-1999 Oem piston kit

Obviously you would have to bore the cylinder barrel to 74mm to fit a 74mm piston kit.

.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Engine differences between 1992-1999 and 1999-2006

All cylinder barrels are the same

All heads are interchangable (raid model different compression ratio but still fits). Also the breather pipe is on the 1999-2006 head but not hard to fit a two piece joiner and pipe or the 1992-1999 head cover plate.

The only differences with engines between any model from 1992-2012 is mentioned below.

You can order 1999-2006 parts unless its clutch boss & basket or crankcase outer cover as these are different with the engines ie. 1999-2012 TTr 250 has 7 clutch plates 1992-1998 has 6.

All clutch and friction plates are the same in any model mentioned and will interchange.

Note: Some early models had 5 clutch plates

Interestingly enough if you fit all the components from the 1999-2006 eg. clutch boss and basket, clutch cover (pictured below) you can upgrade to the 7 plates no problem.

The good points to this would be that you would get the higher oil capacity (see below) and the added bonus of an extra clutch plate or two.

1992-1999 cover stamped 1000 cm/3 (see below)

1999-2006 plate cover (stamped 1100 cm/3 below:

1992-1999 6 clutch plates (see below)

1999-2006 7 clutches plates (see below)

I had to update this thread after recieving my paint from the paint shop. I when a bit flash & used a DUPONT but it's the same color codes.

This is the update:

Notice about paint for the Blue frame :

First primer is applied
The Metallic base coat is applied.... ''Yamaha 0564 Deep Purplish Blue Metallic C (DPBMC)''
Then the top coat....''Yamaha 0583 Deep Purplish Blue Solid E (DPBSE)''
Finally a clear coat goes over that.
................................

Hope nobody used the old info even though it was the best we had.
