Yes they are, don't click on any links. I got rid of the last lot. Hopefully bBrian is going to change something back end of the forum to stop this happening, but he is not able to do so at the moment. I will have another go at tidying up and banning / deleting ip addresses and posts.

Really sorry that this is happening. 

I am away on holiday and find it difficult to do stuff on a phone screen. 

However, I have managed to set all the sub forums to allow only read access to non members which I hope will cut out most of the bot posts.

There aren't a great deal of control options on the forum unfortunately.

I have managed to get access to the forum using a tablet so have been able to see in more detail what has been going on and it wasn't good! 

I think I have identified the main spammers and have deleted their posts and banned them from the forum. 

I hope to goodness I haven't accidentally deleted a genuine user! 

If anyone sees any obvious spammers at work then please let me know and I will deal with them asap.

I hope normal service will now be resumed.

Hmmm - that "fix" didn't do what it said on the tin and has stopped properly signed up members from postingconfusedisbelief

I will undo the fix and try summat else but apologies to all you bona fide members in the meanwhile.

Sadly the login security for the admin page has thrown a wobbly and I am locked out for an hour. Already gone midnight so I will try again in the morning.

I am sorry that once again the forum has been hit by spammers.

They have been banned and their posts deleted although the forum system doesn't seem to have fully caught up cry

Sadly, I have had to change to a system where an admin has to approve all new members. Something I had hoped would never be needed.

I can only wait to see if and how they get around this ....

It is sad that the forum looks so untidy now with the remnants of the spammers' deleted posts still showing. 

I have raised a Support Ticket with Sparklit to see if it can all be cleaned up.

I successfully raised a Support Ticket with Sparklit and have had a response. "Someone" will be in touch and tell me how to tidy up the forum. Sadly, Sparklit don't seem in any hurry.....

Thank you John - not quite back to normal but nearly.

I think we only have one spammer and he/she is persistent. I have just banned four new applications for membership from the Pending list cry

Unfortunately I'm not now riding a bike - I can't even walk!

I travel my journeys on a Mobility Scooter that can't take too rough ground.

Never mind though - I have lovely memories of things.
