Hi guys, first post for me, I have a 1996 ttr250 open endure as a farm bike. I have had an issue with it since I got it, it will start and idle perfectly, it will rev up in neutral no worries but as soon as I put it under load I can't get past maybe 10% throttle and it dies like it's getting too much air, let the throttle go and it returns to idle no issue. I thought it was the carby giving me hell and I managed to find a brand new carby and installed it and still the same. I have read about the intake manifold leaking (yet to check it) but I am also wondering could it be a plug or coil issue.  I have no history on the bike, it was in bits when I got it.. thanks

A more unusual fault which gave similar symptoms was on a TTR which had a worn timing chain which had jumped a tooth on one of the the cam sprockets.

Unlikely I know but worth a check.

Another unusual fault was the spark plug cap where the internals had destroyed themselves.
