Hi TTR team,

Stoked to find this page, im from New Zealand and have had my TTR for a couple months now and am loving it. Fairly new to the riding world and wanting to get into more trail riding. Just swapped my on road tyres for some knobblier motoz tractionator tyres and my first newbie question would be what would the recommended psi for on road riding be? I see 15psi for front and back is recommened for off road riding but not sure about on road, help would be appreciated!

Also any general tips for taking the TTR off roading, i'm feeling like i have lots to learn so am open to any knowledge anyones willing to share.

Photo below is my TTR, just needs a new seat cover and that will be that! ( doesn't seem to want to upload haha )

Cheers, happy riding!

Hi Arna,
I’m a fellow Kiwi, live in Auckland, with a TTR. I’ve bought many Parts from the TTR Shop in past years. This Forum is always an interesting read and I look at it most days.
You are right on the “doorstep” of one of NZ’s great Rides, the Molesworth Station/Rainbow Road Ride. You can make it a two day Ride by taking a break in Hanmer Springs and soak your “beaten body” in the Hot Pools. The Rainbow Road is 4WD vehicles only but Motorbikes like the TTR have no problem doing it. There is a small Toll to Ride the Rainbow as it is a Private Road.
Might be wise to get some practice dirt/gravel Road Rides in, before heading out on that Ride.
If you want any ideas on other Rides in the South Island let me know as I have a Mate who is very experienced in this.
Cheers and Welcome
Jeff

Hi Jeff! Thanks so much for the recommendations! The Rainbow road ride keeps coming up, i think i'll have to do it. Trying to find some fellow rookies or experienced riders that feel like a tag along to come with. A break in hamner sound lush. Can't wait to explore on the TTR, im hanging out for it!

Is the TTR shop in Auckland? I'm needing to replace my seat cover, I've gotta get a purple one since the previous owner has put such a effort in keeping the retro purple colours!

Cheers Jeff, so appreciate it!

Hi Arna,
No, the TTR Shop is in Devon, England.
Good to hear the Rainbow Road is on your “To Do List” you won’t regret doing it.
It crosses over a Pass, which I think is the highest road, that is open to the Public, in NZ.
Cheers
Jeff

Hi again Arna,
I just realized that that photo of my TTR to the left of this text is my bike on the Rainbow Road.
I think it is just as you go through the southern gate of the Molesworth Station, the largest Farm in NZ.
Government Owned

That Pass is called Island Saddle (1347m) (4419 ft).
Google it.

Cheers
Jeff
