1993 TTR250 open enduro indicator warning permanently flashing
Permalink

Hi this is my first post. I bought a 1993 TTR250 open enduro about a year ago and have used it off road a few times where it has been great. I'm about to do my road bike test so was checking the bike over for MOT (it still had one when I bought it) I noticed the indicator warning comes on when the ignition is switched on. The actual indicators all work with the switch as do the hazards and turn off as they should with no effect on the warning lamp on the speedo. The indicator lamps have been changed to led previously and had a low wattage 3 pin flasher relay which I have tried replacing with two new ones to no avail. I bought the manual from the shop here and have traced the wiring and everything seems to check out. The part I was unsure of the loom side of the flasher relay plug has 12v on the brown and the brown and white wire? I was just wondering if anyone had experienced anything similar or had any ideas? Thanks Stuart

Welcome to the forum Stuart!

Yours is a very strange fault that I haven't come across before confuse

For the warning light to be flashing it must be getting current from the flasher unit.

Presumably if you disconnect the flasher unit the light stops flashing?

Somehow the flasher must be getting power even when the switch is off but maybe just not enough to make the indicators light up?

My guess is that there is an issue with the switch. My suggestion is you dismantle the switch and check/clean/lube the contacts and mechanism.

Please let us know how you get on wink

PS I was in North Wales last week. I could have popped in to have a looksee smile

PPS Unfortunately, despite promises from many years ago, ActiveBoard haven't made the forum mobile phone friendly so I tend not to keep up with it when away from home.
