What tyres and rear tyre sizes are you using

Good evening all

I've put a post in the newbie section with more details and a picture of it but I’m a New TTR owner and currently breathing new life into a 1994 raid model.

The tyres on the bike are perished so I want to get some new ones. I’ve sorted a front tyre (TKC80) but stuck on a rear tyre choice, it currently has. 120/80 Michelin T63 fitted, and it m looking for something that will cope with a bit of road use in order to get to green lanes, then be decent in the lanes around Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and surrounding.

I've read up tyre options till my eyes hurt but I’d like to get some feedback from people who actually have this bike and what tyres they run on the rear and in particular what size! particularly I’ve looked at 120/90 and 110/100 sizes but unsure if they would foul the swingarm or not so any feedback would be gratefully received.

thanks

Dean

I use Maxxis IT Pro (intermediate/hard), front 80/100x21, rear 110/100x18. They are proper road legal knobblies and are grippy and surprisingly long lasting. (Much better than similar pattern Michelins, but more expensive)
Tyre sizes are confusing because a 130 or even 140 width road tyre will fit in the swingarm, but the 110/100 profile Maxxis enduro is as wide as you will be able to fit 'cause the 110 bit refers to the carcass width but the knobs stick out sideways significantly more.

Thanks Moss for the feedback. I was looking at the Maxxis maxcross IT in a 110/100 size or a Michelin tracker but wasn’t sure whether I should go 100/100 or 110/100 on that But wasn’t sure a 110/100 in the max is or Michelin tracker would fit but sounds like I’d be ok.

I've been using Dunlop D606 front & rear on the TTR, 90/90 x 21 on the front & 120/90 x 18 on the rear. They are a solid heavy tyre with plenty of tread & good wear for knobblies, street legal as well. Never had a flat with the D606's & not bad for the price either.

Photo showing the tyre, plenty of room but don't go bigger, the TTR does not have a lot of power

So I think I’ve narrowed down the tyre I want to order, and it comes in 110/80 or 120/90. Could I be bette me off getting the slightly narrower tyre or do for the 120/90 option?

I'm from Northamptonshire and with how the lanes are in winter a I found the mitas 754 rear 110,100,18 to be the best. I usually pair with a mitas c19 but there could be better out there.

The tkc80 will sadly be rubbish on the lanes during winter, but it's worth finding out for yourself so at least you have a baseline? The lanes are completely different when it's wet.
