I have a blue tank TTR and love it, and just beginning to understand what a brilliant all round motorcycle it is. I am looking to do the TET and hopefully longer trips, so wondering what people do to carry luggage. I intend to camp so tenting gear will also need to be carried.
Lomo bags, - used for 2 weeks, great value, you need to make a system of straps and mounts but really cheap
Mosko Moto r80, - used everyday for 8 months so far, the best by far but super expensive, great customer support, the beaver tail is a great feature.
Andy Strapz throw over panniers, - used for 4 months everyday, needs a rack, sturdy, simple, needs a rack so gets a bit wide. Allows you to hold alot of luggage in the panniers and on top.
21 brothers rackless system - my girlfriend has used this for 8 months so far, best value for money to quality, sturdy, allows alot of customisation as they are built to order and colour. You can still put a bag on top if you need more space.
And a copy of the Enduristan system (rhinowalk) - only used for a week, cheap, buckle quality isn't great, never crashed in them but they'll be as good as the limo bags.
Andy Strapz can be rolled small or extended large. I like them, but they do need a frame of sorts to support them a bit, as Dan suggests.
Going Austin Vince stylee, (bodge-up diy) you could buy some cheap waterproof trousers, cinch up the ankles and cable-tie them to the passenger pegs, bungee strap to hold in place over the rear mudguard - poor man's Giant Loop!
There is also this thread on the HUBB from Chris Scott, just to make your decision even more complicated!
