Options to replace speedo assembly and warning lights
Permalink

Oops! Had a bit of an off today and have smashed the speedo and broken off the warning light assembly too (as well as knackered the cowl).

Does anyone have any ideas for replacement, since I assume I won't be able to get stock replacements easily. I know I can change to an aftermarket digital speedo and put the Polisport cowl on, but wondering about the warning lights.

 Thanks

Ah, so apparently spares can be ordered from Japan according to Fowlers, but for the speedo assembly and the bracket that holds that and the warning light - £250!

Great thanks. I couldn't find those on ebay but I did find these:

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293540973292

And these which have the same number of indicator/warning lights

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373616084620

Wondering if one of those might be pursuaded to fit, and they're both cheap at least, if in KPH.

Also it seems you don't actually need the high beam/indicator/ neutral lights for an MoT as long as you can see your indicators when riding - although I'd prefer to have them.

Going to give one of them a try. Will post results. £25 is a lot more reasonable than £250 for a punt!

Thanks for the reminder!

Worked out really well. The wirting is different, which stretched my meagre skills a bit, but the bracket fits the existing mounting.

The connecting block was different. I stupidly cut all the wires from the instrument lights and attached them to the original wires running into the connecting block. Then realised that the bulbs basically just push into the instrument light housing, I could have just swapped the bulbs and kept the original wiring. The original bulb fittings are much better and a snugger fit too.

I've ridden it a few times on the lanes since with no problems. The bracket and speedo is much lower quality plastic than the original, feels a little brittle. But it's also literally a tenth the price: £25 instead of £250, if you could even get an OEM one.

I went with the DT125 one here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293545347105

Reads in KPH of course so I've also ordered a sticker (£6) from ebay.
