Carb float problem

Has anyone come across a non-floating cab float...???

Finished a carb rebuild a few months ago, put it all back together and fired it up without a problem.

Just come to check it over pre MoT and running (just) pants and carb flooding. Stripped out the carb again, checked float needle for debris but all clear and put it back together the check float level......and it just floods fuel.

Carb bottom off and placed it in a clear container, connected fuel line, opened tap and fuel runs up past the carb body and float doesn't want to float. Lifting the float by hand it shuts off the fuel like it should and I can't feel any undue friction or roughness.

Now fully in head scratching mode........confuse

Somthing I haven't come across in modern floats. Old copper floats occasionally filled up due to leaks

you can double check the float in a container of fuel if it still doesn't float its no good .

It is easy to check - warm up float in slightly warm water and then immediately put into icy cold water. If the float has water in it upon removal then you know it has leak!
