Shortening the sidestand?

Having fitted the 50mm lowering link I’ve come to the conclusion the stand now needs shortening, anyone who’s done this how much did you shorten it by, I’m thinking that as the bike had a tendency to lean quite a lot as standard maybe removing 25mm would suffice rather that 50mm, if I put some 25mm pieces of timber under each wheel that should hopefully give me an idea of how it will end up? Having been a joiner by trade cutting metal is not my cup of tea really, I’m hoping to get a s/h stand & modify that, so any future owner will be able to return it to standard easily, I’ve been recommended a good local welder once I’ve cut the stand.

Park it on the lawn and push it until the angle is how you like it, then measure the depth the stand has sunk - that'll give you a good estimate
