Thought I’d throw in a couple of photos of my TTR in it’s “very clean” state, after being off the road for the Winter (here in the Southern Hemisphere) and ready to go for his annual Roadworthy Test for a Summer of riding.🤪🌞
You will notice quite a few accessories on him (HIS Number Plate contains the letter URI so has to be a “he” and called Uri)
Starting from the front:
Upper Front Fork Covers made by me - made from Plumbing Piping. Dislike this area rusting so have done this on all my ‘bikes.
Lower Front Fork Covers from Ali Express in China
Windscreen from Screens for Bikes in Australia.
Zeta Hand Guards from local ’bike accessory shop
Headlamp Guard made by me out of Polycarbonate and held on by two zip ties. Has saved the Headlamp Glass several times.
Full Decal set from D&D Graphics UK (via the Totally TTRs FAQ) - Tank ones have been on for over 8 years and still looking good. I emptied the tank once and they started wrinkling but once full again they stretched out perfectly.
Acerbis Tank Cap from the Totally TTRs Shop.
Bash Plate from Totally TTRs Shop
In-line Fuel Filter from Totally TTRs Shop
Gripper Seat was on when I bought it
Frame Guards from B&B Off-Road in Australia
Shorty Front Pipe from Totally TTRs Shop
Muffler from GYTR - on it when I bought it.
Motrax Rear Indicators - great idea from Brian (TTR Guru) for we Older Owners who knock the original Indicators when “throwing a leg over.” (The ‘bike that is)
Shortened Rear Mudguard - only long enough to mount the Number Plate. My opinion - full length looks dorky.
Rear Disc Guard from Totally TTRs Shop
Currently on the standard Bridgestone Trail Wing tyres but have a spare set of wheels with Michelin AC10 on them, depending on where we are riding.
Can‘t see - Digital Tachometer from Ali Express (the wrapped sensor wire around the spark plug lead type) only about NZ$10 including freight !
Hi the Other Jeff B,
Yes, he is looking pretty good at the moment but I’ve recently had plenty of spare time on my hands to clean him up because Auckland has been in and out of Full Covid Lockdowns during the past Winter.
He has had a very active life since being “born” in 1999 and the need to replace all the Rear Suspension Bearings etc and Front Fork Seals testify to this.
His life is much easier these days but that is due to the Owner’s “Limitations” (Older but not necessarily wiser) to use him mostly for Adventure Rides these days.
Sealed and Unsealed Roads/Tracks have superseded the really tough stuff.
According to the Chassis Plate he was made in 1999 but wasn’t sold until 2002.
Being such an early Blue model he has some Parts that are left over from the previous model of TTR.
For instance the RH Crankcase Cover shows that there is a 6 Plate Clutch in there, whereas most of the later Blue models have 7 Plates.
I’m fairly sure he is a TTR250RL (4PX5)
Cheers and looking forward to those beers 🍻 one day.
Old Jeff
Ok, will have to talk to my Adventure Riding Buddies as they don’t stop for photo opportunities very often. 😖
I might have to push for me to “control” the Ride. 🤪
Today I paid the 7 monthly Registration Fee (UK = Road Tax) NZ$230 for that period, so no longer need to “look over my shoulder for Mr. Plod” when out on “sneaky” (Rego “On Hold” for the Winter months) Rides.
Today we are celebrating a little 🍻🍻 as Auckland drops out of Full Covid Lockdown (after 33 days of it) and goes into Level 3, which is really “Full Lockdown, with fries !” 🍔🍟
Sunday, NZ goes into Daylight Saving Time (Clocks forward one hour) so it is all happening down here. Roll on Summer 🌞🏖🍻
Also, my EPL Football team, Chelsea, sorted out ‘Spurs this morning - Happy Days 🍻🍻🍻🍻😬
Won some Bets on that result.
Cheers
Jeff
