Hello everyone! I have just joined then forum to seek some help with my TTR 250, i have been given my uncles one as its been sitting in our yards containers for many years now. Its a TTR 250 U.S Version and i cant get the motor to spin even when i have taken the battery off using jump leads directly to the starter motor while earthing to the frame etc. So i have decided to see if i can bump the bike, no avail, after that i took the plug out and since there is no kick start on it i decided put it in 2nd and bump it down a hill while trying to look at the spark plug (while it was touching the metal). Couldnt see anything... Now i think the electronics on this bike are buggered as i took the tank etc off to expose all the wiring and oh my am i confused... im not used to this, i usually work on MX bikes and Quads.. Has anyone got any idea of how i can just wiring this thing to spark and a cut switch? after all all of the clock and speedo and things are real buggered so i might make it into a fun fiel bike with a straight pipe exhaust hehehe. any help would be appreicated

Hi there and welcome to the forum!

It is possible to run the TTR bypassing all the accessories that are unnecessary for a field bike.

PeteNZ posted up details of his stripped back wiring loom several years ago - see photo below.

Here is another annotated example of a stripped back loom:

The following photo compares the standard loom with the mini loom which is pictured inside and picked out with a free-hand drawn white line.

I am sure there is a thread covering the topic on the forum but haven't been able to immediately find it. Someone with a bit more time and motivation might be more successful wink
