Can anyone give a good reason not to weld the leaking plug in position,especially as the keep bolt has striped threads.

If you have TiG or decent MiG, and the skills, no reason not to provided the heat doesn't distort any of the machined surfaces. (Oh, and the plug you are welding in is aluminium!)

I got the Yamaha replacement really cheap and easy to do. Been OK for a few years now
