Returning to a TTR
Permalink

Hi to all members,

Just wanted to say hello as a new forum member.

I have just bought my second TTR having last owned a white/purple one about 17 years ago that was used for a work commute and some green lanes.

I now have a 2005 bluey with coming up to 16k miles on it that I bought to ride to Spain next year and follow some of the TET to the Pyrenees. I did the same journey in 2018 on a KLX 250 with 4 other TRF members, one of whom was Kevin who has also just bought a TTR and has just posted in the Hello section. We are both officers of South London & Surrey TRF with Kevin as the events organizer and myself as treasurer.

My TTR has a service book showing dealer stamps up to 13k miles so all should be sound mechanically. It needs some cosmetic tidying and I have an order on the way from Steve at Totally TTR's to help with this.

Thanks to all the forum members who have posted information on the site, it helped me to decide to get back into TTR's.

Cheers,

Murray.

Welcome to the forum Murraysmile

Your order is finally on its way, now parcel force have collected it !

Your bike will look very nice indeed and sound amazing once you have your new plastics and full exhaust system fittedsmile I will keep an eye out for a headlight surround for you, as all the ones I got in sold out and I will search the depths of the web for some more!

Welcome Murray- and glad you are lured back to a TTR, even after such a long break, with many others bikes in between- - Last time we rode together was that TET in 2018, I am sure this was the clincher to go TTR, ( hardly even a contest really !) I was riding that trip with 4 other klx's, but the ttr proved itself, again. Looking forward to seeing your bike, ( local to me) , some time soon
cheers bc

Welcome back to TTRs Murray!
( Also welcome "back" Belstaff )
I was the "guy with the van" after your Pyrenees trip. Have a lot of respect for the KLX - lovely torquey motor but there's obviously a reason why you've come back to Yamaha!
Ride safe soon,
Simon.

Also bought a blue ttr last week, after owning one a few years back. Again thanks to Steve and Lisa as in the in the process of a bit of tidying. Looking forward to seeing the country at a slower pace with a smile. Regards Kevin (hants/Surrey border)

Hello, we probably have some mutual friends then. My TTr did a fair bit of the Spanish Pyrenees TET last year alongside me on a CB500x and it's pilot really warmed to it after the initial ' its not a KTM ' moment. I have a few tracks around the Sort area if required as we based ourselves there meeting Simon the linesman at last. Enjoy the bike.
