Blue plastic fuel tank changing colour.

I'm not sure if anybody has come across this before but my blue plastic tank has started to change colour from blue to black. It's mainly on the top and bottom of the tank where no sticker were.

Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this and how to fix it?

I'm thinking it may be caused by the sun reacting to the fuel in the tank somehow.

The only thing I could come up with was that I was using a cheaper brand fuel, so have gone back to a major brand and it seems to be getting better.

No, 91 or 98 but it from an independant servo. I’ve been told that they put a different colour die in the fuel for some reason.

Have you tried using plastic restorer/ protector? That brings back life to faded plastics.

Not faded by the sound of it - quite the opposite!

I was told by my local bike mechanics that they had a friend who had the same thing happened but it was on a brand new bike.

Tank has nearly returned to original colour except for bottom edges just by only using BP or Shell fuels. Will be giving in a good clean and buff soon to try and get it looking nice again.
