Not a TTR but it's big brother

Hi All

I recently purchased a TT350 with the intention of riding some vintage enduros. Here in Victoria the Vintage enduro class is pre 1988, but the TT350 which was released in 86 is a flow on model that ran through to about 1999 in Australia, and all models are eligible.   Mines a 97 and has been rebuilt/restored.

Includes a fresh top end 1mm oversize piston, new timing chain and tensioner, cam bearings, new intakes manifolds ( yes x 2 twin carb!) all new suspension bearings, new fork seals and boots, new and reco plastics, new seat cover, new chain sprockets and brake pads and shoes, new chains slider and new grips.

I think its a few kilos lighter than the TTR and the engine is strong, very torqey.

I have to ride it a bit more first but I can see myself tuning up that old suspension so its better.    I have a full TTR front end to go in it and will look at the shock.

Overall its quite similar to the TTR as its the TTR's predecessor............ but no electric start. :(

P.S

Steve came very close to purchasing your 350 kit but spent my $$$ on this one instead.

But tt350.jpgs-l1600 tt front.jpgtt350 close rhs.jpgI have three Yamaha dirt bikes to ride now!!!

Looks tidy.
I like the finish on the engine fins - black with the edges skimmed.
With the suspension sorted it'll be a nice ride. Better than a DR350 I think. If only it had an electric leg...

Hi I am fixing up a TT350 and I am currently doing the front brakes, I have trouble getting the master cylinder kit,... none in stock in Australia. It will be a 3 week wait from Japan.

Do you know of any other models that fit, with the different part number to the suggested one (5VK-25807-00) $83

Or all I need is the seals that go on the piston

try matching part numbers with other bikes....

One good thing with Yamaha... they carry the same part number for the same parts no

matter what model they are used on... just the bikes model code at the front of the

number differs ...

Is how I found out if Rekluse clutch's would fit the TTR250 and XT660

TTR250 and WR250/YZF250 all use the same clutch plates... same part numbers..

XT660 and WR450/YZF450 all use the same clutch plates.... same part numbers

….

Bit of an update on the TT350 build.

As usual got carried away a bit.

The original twin carb set up (24mm) was being problematic so bit the bullet and bought 2 x new 28mm Keihin PWK carbs. Took a lot of tuning, set the second carby up as a mechanical secondary, blocking of the pilot jet and choke.

Fresh top end 1mm over.

Ported the intake manifolds out from 24mm to 28mm, ported the head, custom built big bore headers into a YZ250F muffler. TTR250 complete front end (resprung and revalved) grafted into the original (bored out 41mm to 43mm) tripleclamps.

Custom modified airbox

New reproduction graphics kit fitted.

New handguards and B and B Bashplate

Dyno tuned at 29 HP at just 5000 rpm and a massive 45 NM TQ at just 4320 rpm.

Its a torque monster pulls 4th gear starts now!  Out pulled a hotted up TT500 at 100kph top gear roll on to 130 kph

Feels similar to ride to the TTR, slightly lighter, softer seat !! Feels bigger too but has way more torque down low that the 250. No e button start, but is actually an easy starter.

Monster!

I spent a lot of time trying to find common parts to make an e start for that engine, but gave up and did the 350 big bore in the end. I think you're lucky to have that dyno guy - just jetting one carb on a non standard setup fries my brain. 2 must be hell, but I spotted the lambda sensor boss on the header. Makes life so much easier. We have so many stops/starts trail riding round here with gates etc Just getting on and off the bike 30 times in a day is a killer, throw in kickstarting as well....

I'm also jealous of the HZJ76. We don't get those in europe. I use a Land Rover 110 (hand built by me so I know it's right, and strengthened in all the right places!), but if I lived in Toyotaland there's no comparison.

Gadget is going to the same dyno Wenesday with his TTR350, I'll check that out.   The TT is really just for Vinduro's but it's a great bike.

Also the re the Toyota ,HZJ76 doesn't come out in Australia. Look closely at the sticker on the rear quarter panel...V8 diesel...biggrinbiggrin so it's a VDJ 76
