2004 Yamaha TTR250 For Sale
Permalink

You may have noticed that I have been a bit quiet lately. This is because I have been quietly working away in the garage on a very nice TTR250. I am just back from the MOT station with a new certificate so it's now going up for sale to make room for my other projects including my frame-up 350 build.

Regarding collection, I use Lee Costello (07811 353090 - Motorbikes2u@gmail.com ) and his price from anywhere in the UK is usually around the £150 mark but I am sure he would be happy to quote you. Otherwise, Shiply is worth a punt although you may not get dedicated bike movers like Lee - it's all he does and he has all the right gear, insurance etc.

This will be the last TTR250 refurb I will do. I have a very special 60's BSA B44 motocrosser in boxes that I want to get around to doing (after a BSA C15 restoration and the TTR350 build!) and then enjoy my riding with only fettling jobs to do biggrin

Anyways up, here is the advert. You guys are the first to see it wink

PM me if you are interested. I am happy to answer any questions. A viewing and test ride (assuming insurance cover can be proven and I have the cash in hand!) is highly recommended. I am always nervous of buyers going on the photos alone.

Reliable and economical 250cc four stroke with 6 gears - the perfect dual purpose commuter/trail bike.

First registered June 2004. MOT until 1st December 2020. Mileage 37,244 but this may increase slightly whilst advert is live.

Genuine bike in great condition. The engine runs nicely and the clutch and gearbox are also very good.

The TTR has undergone a partial restoration whilst in my ownership and I have upgraded it from a commuter bike into a ready-to-use trail bike.

All in all, a great example of this sought-after bike.

Starts and runs well.

  • Dunlop D605 dual purpose rear tyre and a Michelin Cross AC10 front tyre - both road legal (MST marked)
  • New original Yamaha TTR250 headlight
  • New gripper seat cover
  • New grips and Polisport handguards
  • Stainless steel frame guards
  • New front mudguard
  • Recent new genuine TTR250 headlight and surround
  • Wider footpegs fitted which are more comfortable and better suited to offroad use
  • Small bashplate fitted
  • Original TTR indicators and wing mirrors
  • Valve clearances professionally adjusted at 33,400 miles.
  • New cam chain and associated parts fitted January 2018.
  • Spare keys present
  • Lots of paperwork including every MOT plus receipts for parts and work done.
  • Original Yamaha owners manual - in English!
  • Dual start - electric AND kickstart
  • Proper ignition switch (unlike many enduro bikes) with steering lock
  • Full speedo and idiot light cluster with speedo in mph
  • Fully adjustable suspension front and rear to suit your riding style
  • More photos at the bottom of the page

Suitable for someone who has passed the A2 as less than 33 kW.

There is a good range of after-market accessories for the TTRs from a dedicated spares shop - Totally TTRs - www.totallyttrs.com

There is lots of information on this very popular and sought after bike at www.ttr250.com

There is also a very active owners group on Yahoo - http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/TTR250/  (that's us on here!!!!)

Very economical and will do a day's trail riding on a tank of petrol. Plus it has an "all-day" comfy seat unlike more enduro-based machines.

Perfect beginner's trail bike but also suitable for the more experienced rider who realises that it isn't necessary to have a big engine to enjoy themselves on the UK's technical lanes.

Lowering links are available for the less-tall rider which take about 2" off the seat height.

There are lots of cheaper TTRs around but the choice is yours. This one is in very good order – you won’t be disappointed!

I live on the outskirts of Exeter and am easily accessible from Junction 25 of the M5.

Sensibly priced at £2,250

Cash on collection or bank transfer only please.

That really is a credit to you Brian. I am now avoiding going into the garage and catching the accusing glances from mine.

Cheers to Dave!  That's an awesome bike.  Great work Brian.  I would have loved to have had it shipped to the US if shipping costs weren't so high.  North Carolina won't allow bikes to be retro-licensed for road use.  It must come from the factory approved for road use.

I really miss this bike (sold it to Brian for its transformation).
Sadly no trail bikes in my garage anymore but I do like to keep tabs on certain bikes that I grow fond of and this is one of them.
My new South London commuter bike also has bags of character though, it’s a 1987 Yamaha T80 :)
40mph+ on a really good day, maintenance free (now I have refurbed it) shaft drive and even better fuel economy than a TTR.
