Ahhh, 2km from home in rush hour traffic... Pushed it for a km to a local 7-11. Got a new cable coming tonight. Unfortunately I live at the top of a very steep hill....
I snapped mine a couple of months back. It snapped down the bottom of the cable where the outer cables ends, you can see exactly where the inner cable has a bit of an angle forced on it at that point.
i was out in the bush, and of course in the bottom of a very steep valley with a choice of difficult hill climbs to get out. There was no way it could be pushed out.
i started it in neutral pushed it till it was moving clicked first and rode out. Makes for interesting hill climbing when you know you can't stop.
I managed to ride out alright and then about another 10 km back to the trailer.
Funny thing is the ride before that the actual clutch went in the same valley. I was a bit worried coming in there for the third ride!!
I had mine break at the lever end. Luckily I carry a spare inner and some screw-on ends, and did another 800 miles before I got home and replaced it with a new one. I'm more conscious of angles and routing now!
Morning, got a replacement installed. Mine snapped at the handle. Never thought that it would go down by the clutch Brian, that sounds like a great idea!! Gonna have to pick one of those up!
On past bikes when riding in Romote areas I ran a spare clutch and throttle cables along side the ones in use never used them but good insurance when your a long way from a town
