Love the website, interesting members, and all of the precious knowledge being shared.
Purchased my first TTR recently this past August. It was a 2005 with the original tires on it. Someone replaced the stock exhaust with an FMF and rejetted it, but it had a slight miss at mid-rpm. So I rebuilt the carb and dropped the needle from #3 to #2 slot from the top. Runs perfect. Valves are in spec and bearings are tight. Replaced the tires, brake pads, chain, front sprocket, spark plug, filter, oil, headlight shroud, and seat cover. Dialed the suspension in for woods and trail riding. Loved it so much that I bought a 2000 TTR for parts. It looked rough and ran rough so I got it for a great price. I rebuilt the carb and it ran great - these bikes are incredible! Engine, electrical, tranny, and bearings are fine. Valves are well within specifications. I decided to give it the same upgrade I gave my 2005 and run it on the extra knarly trails. It will need fork seals though. All these bikes need is a little care and they reward you with many hours of enjoyment.
I owe much gratitude to this forum and Totally TTRs. I hope to be able to contribute where possible.
