G'day all, bought a rough TTR250 for a bit of scrub bashing and run to work on. Was an old station bike, so has had a bit of damage over the years.

Don't remember having had so much fun smile.

It is good to see a community with so much help and information available.

I also have a V-Strom 650 which is not so good on the dirt (for me anyway) especially on road tyres, the TTR makes up for that smile

It has always had a rough running sensation at low cruising speed, open throttle, no worries. Tried cleaning out carby with no improvement. I have replaced the carby with one from a 2001 model and the surging is gone. Now this carby is also leaking fuel, it is time for a rebuild kit.

Thank you all for the help I have received so far, looking forward to learning more about these bike as time goes on.

Cheers,

Rob.

Hi Rob

is the leak at the bottom of the carb, usual suspect is the diaphragm, which doesn't come with the all balls kit.

Hope that helps.

Steve

Thanks for the welcome fellas, no, the leak seems to be from a bit higher up. I have a kit on the way, hopefully that will sort it out. The original carb has a bad needle/seat seal, deciding to jettison fuel at leisure.
Such a fun bike. I opted for the 250 to keep rego cost down.

Sounds like the ttr Will be a good fit enjoy

I splash a bit of fuel injector cleaner in the tank now and then keeps the carby nice and clean  .

Hey TTboof,

When you say a "splash" of Fuel Injector Cleaner in the fuel tank, every now and again, does your "splash" equate to about a "cap full ?"
That sounds like a decent idea and the stuff is pretty cheap so if it keeps the inside of the Carb clean then .......

Sorry to divert off topic Rob (sid)

Cheers
Jeff
