Somehow I managed to damage the thread in the float bowl for the drain screw. I must have put it in cross threaded. I the drain screw itself is damaged but more worryingly is the thread inside the bowl. Any suggestion what to do?
I'm sure the thread size will be a standard metric one of some sort. If the thread will clean up that's half the battle. As long as the seat that the screw tightens against is ok, a new screw oughta do it.

Thread is M6 x 0.75 A bit rare (normal M6 thread is 1mm pitch) but it exists. You need a plug tap to make sure the thread is correct all the way to the end - a taper won't do it.
Here's one: (or you might find an engineering place that has one AND a helicoil repair if the thread is beyond saving. (Helicoil set about 50 quid is a bit much for one little screw!)
For unobtanium taps, dies, etc, I use Tracy Tools. Next day delivery and never let me down. See here
The float bowl is worth saving as they also seem to be like unobtanium! I have been trying to get hold of one to finish off a carb build for over a year now
