Hi all, newby to this forum from the Northampton area.  Managed to find a relatively low mileage 2004 Blue and have had an enjoyable month or so tidying up and making it run right - mainly getting the carb sorted.  Didn't realise until I bought the bike what a great resource there was here.  Being 'short of leg' I have had to lower the TTR and next plan on altering the seat - seems a shame to alter the original seat so will ask around here for a old one to re-upholster - perhaps with a view to going back to the original suspension setting.

Intend to use the bike locally to explore the byways around the East Midlands but also have a dream of doing a longer overland trip on this capable bike.

In time hope I can contribute to the forum with TTR related stuff I've learnt/experienced.

Finally - I must thank Steve at TotallyTTR for an endless supply of bits that always arrive the next day and to Brian for some very informative You Tube videos that have helped me greatly.

Welcome to the forum Neil!
I have 2 TTRs, one with a lowering link and one without. I think the ability to flat-foot is more useful than the extra ground clearance. In the last 2 years 3 riders I know have done serious knee damage toppling over at low (or even no-) speed because the seat was too high (2 of them on KLX250 s and one on an XR650) and the bike went over too far before the dangling leg made contact with the ground.
Congratulations on a good choice of all-rounder trail bike.
Ride safe,
Simon.

Hi Simon, thanks for the advice.  mmm, perhaps just a few cm off the seat then - keep lowering link in place and perhaps play with the rear preload if I do that big trip !  Appreciated.

Neil.
