Another TTR250 in Christchurch New Zealand
Permalink

Hi, I’ve been a member on here for a wee while but thought it was about time I said hello and posted some pictures of my 1993 TTR250 OE.

It’s actually the 2nd time I’ve owned the bike, I first bought it back in 2006 as my first bike and main form of transport. It had 15000km on the clock and was a blast to ride around and learn on for the following 5 years. However due to buying a Mk1 Escort the bike sadly started to get used less and less and was eventually sold at about 26000km. Whilst it was good to get the money to go towards a new house as ours had been destroyed in the earthquakes, I always regretted selling the bike. The guy I sold it to coincidentally worked very close to where I work and I did see him a few times in the following years riding his Africa Twin but never got the opportunity to speak with him about the TTR.

Anyway skip forward to late 2017 and whilst sitting at my daughter’s swimming lesson I got bored and started looking on a local internet auction site, dangerous I know! I thought I’d have a look if there were any TTR250’s for sale and sure enough there’s my old bike. It had a large Acerbis tank, new Dunlop D606 rear tyre, other spare bits and pieces and a 325 kit. It also came with the original OE metal tank, the rear tyre I had fitted not long before selling it and was now on 35000km. So with a rush of blood to the head I bought it!

The bike had been sold a couple more times after I sold it and I eventually managed to make contact with the guy I sold it to, where he kindly caught me up on what he had done to it. The bike has been great and the 325 kit makes a huge difference from how I remember it rode before. The forks are in bits at the moment whilst I’m replacing the seals and bushes, I need a new front brake disc and I want to change the D606 for something a bit more suited to road use, but hopefully the bike should be back on the road again soon.

Cheers

Welcome back to the Christchurch TTR250 owners club. Nice looking TTR you have there. Will you be taking it over to the Waimak trails?

Thank you, I've really only used it for commuting to work and a couple of rides up near Hanmer but I'd be keen to take it out to the trails when it's back up and running.

Let me know if you'd like to hit the trails with a fellow TTR250 owner. I head over there most weekends.

That'd be great thank you very much, just waiting for some parts to arrive to get it back up and running.

 Hi Pete,

Yeah I sold it to Mark and then when I bought it back from another guy I managed to contact Mark and he kindly told me what he did to the bike after buying it from me.

Yeah a TTR get together definitely sounds good.

Went out to the Waimak trails this weekend just been and it's looking great out there. Well keen on a TTR get together too. Put the word out when you're ready. I can do most any weekend.
